In this episode, Jon Collins is joined by Rich Gonzales talking about coyote calling and the X360.
welcome to the foxpro podcast brought to you by fox pro game calls welcome back to the foxp procast on this episode we've got richie gonzalez joining us and we're going to be talking coyote hunting what's going on richie not much sean how are you doing i do doing pretty good uh you said you're working today said you had to take a break go out to your pickup truck didn't you yes sir you know government employee and when i'm not out in the field hunting coyotes i got to pay the bills and have some benefits so you may uh you may hear a few f-35 fives fly over but we'll keep it quick and and talk some coyote hunting f-35 i'm not very familiar with that i know it's some type of that that's a fighter jet right it is it's a it's a the latest and greatest it took the place of the f-16 so nice i work at i work at hill air force base here in utah well what did you what did you tell them to be able to go out to your pickup truck for an hour or so just take my lunch shirley that's all well you bring you bring a sandwich with you i got a good boss it's it's helpful to have good good leadership behind you so um just told him i'm gonna take a conference call and take my lunch when i need it so good to go well what what do you what do you actually do there you don't have to tell us the whole thing but you know uh basically i'm a i'm a program manager for uh like the minute man missile program so i network repair request from the program office which is the customer in the field to the to the maintenance shop here on this base okay well that's that's pretty cool that's pretty cool and uh for you guys that that don't know richie he's also been a longtime uh fox pro pro staffer he does he's a tremendous coyote hunter pretty much hunts every single week and when he's uh not coyote hunting he's in the field even more uh running a video camera for us quite a bit i've been on several hunts with with rich him behind the camera me on the gun always look forward to every trip we do and hopefully get out on another trip or trip or two this year but um have you been coyote hunting here lately richie that's what i want to know have you done any coyote calling over the last last month or so we have we have we've been out in the field quite a bit uh me and nick me and bernie and and rusty when he can get away from work he's got a kind of a crazy schedule but yes we uh day and night we've been out in the field and we've actually been running the x360 yeah yeah we test testing that out in the field and it's it's been really successful on on helping us harvest a little more coyotes and and some of this tough country we hunt a lot of public ground you know what i mean yep yep hunting what uh utah wyoming idaho some maybe yep and nevada as well and sometimes uh we try to make a trip to arizona and hunt with our buddy justin guideman down there once in a while yeah well you're kind of up in that corner where you can go hunt idaho of course utah and wyoming and nevada and all those states you can i mean you're fairly i mean fairly close to them you could be you could hunt any of those states at at any given time i'm assuming yeah it's kind of nice because what we end up doing is actually we get on our apps and kind of play the weather so if one valley of mountains has got wind we check north and if not we check east and it's just we're kind of blessed right here in this little area but with that being said there is quite a bit more hunters out here and and as you know utah has that bounty program so right you put a you put a $100 bounty on a coyote and they they tend to act a little different yeah well you know and that's one of the great things about the west especially out there in your area that you're in yeah there is a lot of hunters but man the the land access i mean you you basically have you know you can want to use the word unlimited but that's basically the way it is i mean just just millions of acres to go out there and go go and hunt i'm sure you got some private land stuff too that you can hunt as well right uh yeah we tend to hunt some private ground but i want to say we're 90% public ground hunters and and as you can see lately in the in the politics world that they're talking about trying to sell off some of this great great stuff that we hunt in and so we encourage everybody that does hunt public ground to to get on the phone and call your congressman and let it be known that this isn't for sale this is something we all actually want to get away from the city in and go enjoy right yeah yeah no um what is you all mostly hunt blm i know we probably hunt some state ground and stuff like that as well yeah they have some a lot of blm uh state ground for sure and then you know there's some of those sovereign state ground areas too yeah yeah well lots of lots of hunting opportunity but uh what y'all been hunting daytime and and night hunting here uh as of late or or just predominantly night or uh we we try to get out and get a few evening stands in in the daylight and then you know we'll clip on the thermals and make the most of our fuel money and and get out there at night and that's when the cooler temps are right especially this time of year grief exactly summer summer is here i'm pretty sure like we was talking about earlier summer is here and i'm pretty sure we're already in the dog days of it it's miserable it here yesterday in kentucky it was 93 and i think it was like close to 70% humidity i mean it was just miserable yep it's it's hot now and so if we can hunt you know a few stands in the morning and then a few stands in the evening and then all through the night it's it's usually the plan um if we're around water and we can keep if we're running decoy dogs if we're around a river or something we'll we'll hunt in the middle of the day if we know there's a den there but we tend tend to hunt that the cooler temps in the night right now and it's still been rough it's it's been kind of there's a lull i don't know the cats just kind of they get lazy too i think with the heat but they still got to feed those pups so oh yeah yeah we've t we've talked about that quite a bit too you know especially with denning season type stuff proximity comes into play so much and then especially when you talk start talking about extreme temperatures man you better be close to them mhm yeah we try to focus you know looking on onx probably within within a half mile of any kind of a water source and that could be a guzzler man-made guzzler out here uh that catches rainwater or water tanks for cattle or even a creek you know anything like that that's where you're going to have more success yeah yeah no doubt well you mentioned dogging have y'all got into done much dogging yet this year you getting into any good dogging stands how the how the coyotes reacting to the dogs so far this year earlier in the in the spring it it was kind of they were timid depending on proximity how close you could get yeah um but right now they're actually firing pretty good we've had a few what we call chicken chicken [ __ ] coyotes that just kind of sit out there bark and then they go away if they see the dogs but you get in where there's a you know a good family group lately we've had some really good luck and like we had uh we actually took the x360 out um after a rainstorm here a couple weeks back and uh we had a we had the decoys running and the and the dogs kind of went out in this open flat and we knew there was like a lava flow um in front of us it kind of dropped off and we howled and this this group lit up and our dogs were kind of down on the downwind side and just hanging out maybe two 300 yards to the right of us and we put on uh mfk fight challenge and holy crap here come these here come a quad and they were so fixed on the decoys on the x360 they didn't know we had decoy dogs yeah and they actually locked in on it they locked in on the call and they got to about 50 yards before gator and kate the dogs seen the coyotes and they flanked them like 90 degrees and just hit these coyotes and then there was just a big old fight in front of us and they decoyed three or four times back and forth out to 200 and back to 50 and then we finally made a decision to shoot them right over the collar and uh we ended up getting a triple out of the deal but it was just cool cool to watch the aggression and and how um the design of those two decoys you know just had them just had them tricked it was pretty awesome to watch it is pretty awesome and speaking of decoy dogging i've seen you all do some decoy dogging at night before how how does that work out do you still how how close uh when you are decoy dogging at night of course it's pitch black dark uh do the coyotes and dogs interact any different at night than they do during the day i'm assuming they have to get the coyotes have to get closer before the dog sees them or the coyote sees the dogs you know um tell tell us about that a little bit what are the differences differences that you see yeah mainly i mean if you got a good moon if there's a little bit of moonlight they can see each other but mainly what you're you're focusing on and you're hoping for is coyote vocalization yeah and you know we didn't we didn't know um nick's dog gator could decoy at night until last summer we had some we're out on a river bend and there was lava flow out there too and uh we had i'm like let's let's just let the dog out and see what happens and these coyotes vocalized and he went right to them they were 300 yards in the dark pitch black and brought them back and we shot them at 20 yards so it's pretty awesome pretty awesome but the thing we found is if if they vocalize it's very helpful for the decoy dogs and then another thing another thing is is we found that um if they don't vocalize and the wind is right if you if the dog catches the scent of the coyote they'll run right into each other and then it's on right um and then another thing that's been really helpful to us with having the dogs on stand is some of that you know that summer growth as you say is this in the crp or the alalfa those dogs help us recover them final yeah final no that's that's that's one thing that i always like especially you know like you're talking about that taller stuff um like out in the like kansas type country the prairie type country some of that prairie grass could be pretty tall and you drop a coyote or even in a sagebrush country where y'all hunting mostly um a coyote drops out there good grief they can be hard to find but dog will go right to them you know dog is dog has helped us drag a mini a coyote out just after the shot just literally just finding the things yeah it's definitely increased our our body count but you do miss a few i mean they like we had some multiples come in the other night and we we actually shot a quad and uh we only recovered three but we're talking it was three and four foot sage brush but yeah all that all that scent from the coyotes coming back and forth and that many coyotes it's the dogs just kind of get wore out with the scent and yep yeah it is what it is you mentioned the uh x360 there earlier and that is one big thing we finally got that thing finished up the 3 x360 is available um we had tons and tons of pre-orders and we finally got all those shipped out and there's they're should be building more this week so we should have x360s available on our website any any day now uh so anybody can go in there and start ordering calls and you know it's been a huge relief for us we've worked on that thing for so long and you know we've wanted to bring it we've wanted to release it more than anybody else wanted it released and one of the cool things is it it uh you know we spent a few months um you know actually testing the x360 out in the field and probably besides for myself um and probably like uh zach hasser up at the fox pro office you have probably ran it more than anybody else so probably us three myself and al morris too of course zack hassinger and you we probably spent more time with it in the field than anybody uh what was your what was your first uh u initial thoughts on x360 when you got it out there in the field yeah so luckily been blessed to to test this this unit and it's it's been impressive to watch the growth of it and my first experience with it is uh actually went with al and john bear up to alberta and we filmed um in october last last fall with it yeah that was the early early field test in there yeah it was and it was definitely a prototype unit and it was it was just so cool to watch the first coyote come in i mean we we were calling this big draw and i don't know if you've seen any of that country up there in alberta but it's just it's paradise for coyote hunting mhm and there was this one big draw we were hunting um with jack pines up in some some of these little canyons and this big fluffy white coyote come out and uh it was going to the downwind but john bear ended up smoking it at 200 yards and it was just cool to watch how fast in that especially it was high wind that day it the sound traveled down in that draw the coyote reacted and it was it was on i mean we got it killed within two minutes of the call being on right and uh and then it actually on that trip i think we harvested the first quad over that that call i think what y'all hunted like two days two and a half days and killed it was something like 16 17 18 coyotes wasn't it it was a pretty awesome trip i think we had 18 kills for sure and i think 16 on camera so it was definitely an awesome first trip with the x360 and uh it just it's just been awesome to test it from that time forward i've they sent me my own unit and and we've hit it hard with you know some of the some of the hunts we've been on lately just testing all the cool features that this call has and um the thing that i really like the most is how uniquely you can customize it to your to your liking yes it's it's the possibilities are are endless with that unit even even the different stuff with the remote just the look you can do custom colors instead of you know the three standard colors we always had with the with the daylight the dark and the uh i forget what the other one's called it's the hybrid the fox fox it's the fox pro theme fox pro scene thank you i couldn't think of that for some reason but yeah all that stuff is is you know it's just so customizable um one thing i was thinking about when you was talking about calling those coyotes up in alberta i can't remember what you were doing but i remember you sending me some video clips and a few steel shot pictures of a pair of coyotes that was just running circles around x360 you all were just you all were out doing something but didn't have rifles with you you just decided to call and just to see if you could call a coyote up just for the fun of it tell us tell us about that yeah me and my wife we were actually doing a a product photo shoot for another company that i help out with and uh we i had the x360 in the truck and the sun was going down i said "we got time to go see if we can call up a coyote and just see what happens." and we didn't have any guns with us so i mean that's the best time to learn some coyote behavior and and to watch something happen is when you don't have a rifle in your hand so we set we set up in we were in utah and we set up in this in this kind of rock slide and uh started out i believe it was with the raspy woodpecker and about 3 minutes in i looked to my left downwind and i said "hey britney here they come there's two of them coming right here." and these coyotes um this is when i was actually getting really familiar with the with the x2 the tx2000 and i went into the advanced x360 mode with this prey distress on and that what that happens with that call is it randomly projects the sound around 360 degrees y and uh these coyotes come to the downwind and they actually circled and paced back and forth on the x360 the big male did probably for two minutes three minutes and uh they end up walking off the female was feeding in the back and they end up walking up over the hill and i decided to change the sound to hp snowshoe and hell they come bombing back in and that's when i was videoing um in the video you could see on my instagram and i think we collabed on that post but uh yeah you could watch them they come darting back in like it was something brand new and had that advanced 360 mode on again and that one coyote he just sat there and paced the call back and forth fourth and i think a total of almost eight minutes you know from both times i called them in they just could not figure out what was happening and i had both decoys running at the same time as well and it was just cool to watch them sit there and analyze it and the best thing about it is is i think that with those features it showed me that it's going to buy you more time on stand oh gosh i know when you when you sent me the pictures and a couple video clips heck a coyote was going all the way around it it had to have cut the wind of the unit plus it was just feet from it had to cut your track from walking in there and setting it out so i'm not saying i'm not telling everybody to go out there and just disregard the wind that's not what i'm saying but when that coyote got up there so close the sound quality was so good it just kind of threw that little bit of scent that was out there it just threw it out the window they didn't care yeah it it was a testament to that 32-bit audio in my opinion yeah yeah so but yeah if i hope people go and check out that go back a few posts and and watch how cool that was is is very cool and you know talking about that advanced 360 sound that is a new feature u this unit literally uh the x360 literally throws sound in 360 degrees it's pretty cool and when you turn it put it into advanced 360 mode it starts randomly throwing sound from speaker to speaker and i think there's five um i have to double check this but i think there's five different intensity levels on how fast it will throw that sound around um so it's a it's a really cool feature and what that does it it mimics movement it it it actually sounds like whatever is out there say if you're playing a rabbit distress or if you're playing a pup distress if you're playing a a bird whatever it is it sounds like it's actually being thrashed around or moving around it's not just a stationary type sound and it's it adds a ton of realism it's a very cool feature one of my one of my favorite uh uh new features that that comes with it only the x360 it's pretty cool absolutely another thing and talking about the speakers um the sound quality of the it's just one of these things that you got to let you got to hear it for yourself before you believe it but the sound quality is out of this world it's a seven speakeraker unit delivers 32bit ultrasonic sound it has it actually has three of the xhd plus speakers so it's kind of like having um almost like having three x24s in one unit pretty much is what it's like plus it has a three it has three enhanced tweeters and it has a full range speaker on the bottom and i'm telling you when you're when this thing is playing and all those speakers are playing you hear things in sound files that you never knew was part of that sound file especially when you're playing stuff like fights my goodness you talking about taking coyote fights to a whole another level wait till you hear them out of this x360 and it's not just the fights too it's stuff like coyote house when you start to hear that low tone that's in a in some of these coyote files you know almost like a a growly type sound come that starts up before they get into the high pitched how is just i'm telling you you're just hearing stuff that you never heard out of any other unit just these combination of speakers just brings a whole different another level of sound quality is wild yeah i think the best way to describe it for the folks that haven't had a chance to listen to one in person is the depth that it gives those vocalizations it is so convincing on the lower end like the like you said the fights and the growls and like even you know how you put on a raccoon fight and it has that oh yeah that that stuff like you can actually feel you can actually feel that on stand it's it's something else and i i can't wait to see all the reactions on social media to the guys that have gotten theirs um and seeing their success and and just have them talk about the quality of the sound it's definitely going to be a game changer yeah i mean we can talk about it all we want but you've got to hear it i mean you really do when you hear it you'll see exactly what we're talking about just what richie said you can actually feel it if you got that unit sitting kind of close to you and you start playing type of sounds that got some of those low tones in them like coyote fights certain house the raccoon type stuff you can actually feel it hitting you in the chest it's wild pretty awesome hey and another the thing is too uh with that you know almost well not almost every single unit that has ever been produced by us anybody else it don't matter what it is most of them are either just uh a mid-range speaker or a mid-range and a tweeter well like we was saying this one actually has a full range speaker on the bottom it's a large speaker and when i say full range kind of think of like a subwoofer so what it's doing is bringing out all those lower tones and it's going in with a three mid-range speakers and the three tweeters so it's actually covering a wider range of frequencies that no other unit ever has that's the reason i was saying you will actually hear stuff in these sound files that no other unit has ever produced i it's pretty wild it's pretty wild right and not only that you know with with the whole reasoning behind the design um with this speaker type and this these features is it was actually designed to be a multiuse tool and you can actually put it in music mode and put it on the patio and bluetooth music to it yeah yeah we've we've had a few drinks around the fire of the house with it just bluetooth our phone to spotify and sat there listening to music it was pretty awesome yep and and it is a it is a all-in-one uh game call unit it's not just for predators i mean this is going to be it is a excellent excellent crow calling unit if you're somebody that's into crow calling which i know a lot of people are uh snow geese hunting uh yep i know you know there'll be a many of snow snow goose come flocking around this thing that's for sure i know it's going to be a big hit for both those for crows and snow snow geese yeah i think i think we're going to book a trip with mike tracy this year and uh he's he's been running the snowpro out there and his leases and we're going to go do some snow goose hunting with this x360 for sure it'll be that'll be fun and he he knows his stuff they man they get in all kinds of dag on geese don't they oh yeah oh yeah yeah he's got it figured out for sure that'll be a fun trip he's invited he's invited me to come out i need to take him up on that i might have to try to do that this winter let's put it together hey i can be i could be up for it i could be up for it that's for sure way i've seen some of these uh uh snow geese hunts heck you shoot till you get tired of shooting looks like your shoulder gets tired of it some of those spring conservation hunts that's what it's all about yeah hey another another feature uh i think is worth mentioning and you kind of alluded to it there earlier was talking about uh you was talking about that quad that was locked in on the decoys the thing about the x360 it actually has dual decoys and that dual decoy motion is is pretty wild it actually comes with a bird topper and it comes like a fuzzy wuzzy type topper and you can put like you can kind of you can change them out however you want uh but what it's kind of meant is for you to put that fuzzy wuzzy topper on it comes with two different length uh decoy wires it comes with like a just a a short um middle length type wire so it's lower to the to the call and then you can put that bird topper on the longer wire and when you start running them together that fuzzy was it would just sit there spin around erratically in circles but that longer wire with the bird topper makes it looks like it's diving down and hitting that fuzzy wuzzy so it has a pretty awesome visual and it it's pretty striking i can see where it's going to it's going to cause a lot of hard chargers if you got them both running for sure and then and on the tx2000 you can actually adjust the intensity and speed of both decoys and there's leds under both for your night hunting just to give it a little illumination so yeah it's it's going to be a game changer yeah i can see i can see you was talking about them coyotes being locked on and you know the dogs are there i i knew exactly what you was talking about there with both those decoys running yeah i wish we would had the camera out on that one that's what i'm kind of looking forward to this winter is getting in on some good bobcat stands where we can get a bobcat to come in when it sees those decoys i want to see what that reaction's like right it it'll definitely be something to watch definitely will definitely will i've already had some pretty cool stands with uh with coyotes hard charging i know there's been two different coyotes that i've had to shoot almost i don't want to call it self-defense because they wasn't coming at me that's coming at the unit but it's kind of like i saved a decoy topper or two uh because they wasn't stopping i mean you turn the sound off try to turn the decoys off they still just keep coming you got to shoot them in the chest as they're feet from it it's pretty pretty wild that's awesome dude had a had a uh his name's william hatton he's from down in florida he sent me pictures there a couple weeks ago he got he had pre-ordered the next 360 and he actually had i don't know if he caught in a single or if it was a pair or what it was but he actually had one coyote come running in and actually stole one of the toppers i can't remember if it was a bird topper or the rabbit topper or what and ran off with a decoy topper yeah and he shot it and it still had the thing in its mouth yeah he sent me that on facebook messenger i've seen that yep so he he's loving it he's he's done killed a p pile of coyotes over top of it yep what do you think about what do you think about the uh the remote the tx2000 transmitter whole new different totally different uh remote total new new design it's i i like it it's a little bit bigger remote but it's man it's got some cool features to it you was talking about how you could customize the colors earlier and that's pretty much just endless the stuff you can do with that you can do anything with this remote and you know when you go in you can change the colors everyone sees color a little different and uh i thought that was super helpful to be able to adjust even the how you can dim it down there's you can do anything you want to this call you can even change the font the text there's so much to it yep yep of course it's got some other cool features too there's a lot more than just that um got a weight scale in it you played with the weight scale any i have actually and you know people are like "why would you want to do that why are you want to weigh the cuts?" well we hunt a lot of contests and uh we have some you know the big dog little dog side pots and you know we kind of have to organize them before we get into the check-in that's a huge help to have that right there available so you ain't got to do it all at the end and sort through a pile when you can just label them all out and know who's who but just you go you know anyways back east you shoot some of those big coyotes you want to know what how much they weigh is it's just why not well used to you know if i killed a i'd weigh a few coyotes here and there um you know pretty small percentage really uh if i killed what i thought was a really really really big coyote and was kind of interested to see if maybe it was the biggest coyote ever killed i would save it back so i could weigh it or if i shot this little bitty dainty coyote you know i was like man that might be like one of the smallest coyotes i ever killed so i want to weigh it but now we got the weight scale right there in the remote heck we've weighed about every single coyote we killed just you know be just a regular normal average coyote laying there and said you know a lot of times i'm hunting with somebody a camera guy or whatever uh i was just like with mark lice two weeks ago we killed a couple coyotes down there in tennessee we'd actually uh bought a bow fishing boat from mark so i had to go down there and get it so while i was there we went coyote hunting for the day and got some called in but you know we shoot a coyote we fixing le was like "hey let's guess let's guess see what this thing weighs whoever you know whoever's closest wins we'd weigh weigh the coyote you know it's pretty cool i mean you just heck just hook them up pull them up right there and see what they weigh and go on even if it's nothing just you know just knowledge and knowing what they weighed it might not mean nothing to to some but uh i don't know but it's pretty cool it's pretty cool you know just been it's going to weigh 27.2 lb and no it's going to weigh 24 lbs it ain't that big then you weigh and it weigh over 30 you know you just you just don't know it's pretty cool pretty cool stuff well i think for those guys also that are data driven and like to keep a journal you know that's just another part of the game they can add to their to their data and um and i can honestly say when we were testing the unit i went over to nick's home gym and hooked up a few of his his dumbbells to it and it's it's way accurate oh it's accurate it is yeah it's it's it's good it's good stuff you know it's kind of one of those things too and i'm not calling nobody out with this or nothing but you all every once in a while see this coyote and they'll say "oh i weighed 50 55 lbs or whatever stuff." and you're looking at like man look like a 35lb coyote to me what do you mean you know that ain't no old 50 you know but of course i don't ever say that i'm like i bet it don't weigh close to 55 but it might and you'll see you'll start reading through there and you'll see people say "where's the picture of the scales and all this type of stuff?" hey if you're running a if you're running x360 you got tx2000 remote there's no excuse for you not to be throwing a or throwing a weight out there and not take a picture of that scale exactly remote same thing hey same thing for bobcats you see all these guys you know i kill a handful of bobcats every year and i'm not really really good at guessing them you know if they're a real small bobcat i'm actually you know can guess them pretty easy and if they're a really large bobcat i can get pretty close but all those bobcats that's in between they're pretty hard to guess you know actually weight and you'll see somebody holding one up it's like a you know i'd guess it at a 20 or 22 lb bobcat and they're starting to rattle off numbers like 35 lb and all that i'm like man they're you know i've killed 28 lb and 30 lb cats that look twice the size that thing you're holding sure so now if you're running like i said if you're running this you hook that tx2000 hold it up there and if you want to say it weighs 35 lb you look up there and it shows it hey it weighs 35 lbs if that remote says it it's accurate yeah take the guesswork out for sure for sure oh man good grief i that's going to solve a that's gonna solve a few arguments in the future i can already tell right hey have you um have you programmed have you added any sounds to your unit have you worked with the program or any i have lately um i've added most of the mfk library that i have and uh it's it's so much more user friendly and the biggest thing i found was you have a drop and drag feature now where you can actually for those guys that you know just want to drag and drop it over it's it's there now yep yep it's it has a brand new um fox pro programming utility it's got a total different look different design different features it it's it's quite a bit different than the old programming utility and plus there's been a lot of people that's asked for it in the past asked for drag and drop well now you got it so yep got options for programming and it's it's simple i think everybody's going to enjoy that and another cool feature about the new programmer is it's actually got a sound converter bio converter in there so it does you can convert your convert your mp3s over to wave or um whatever the x360 does run yeah yeah if you yeah if you have some sound files that you've used um mp3 is one of them it doesn't the x360 doesn't take doesn't accept mp3 files well it's it's not a problem you know there's a lot of mp3 files out there the deal is this new program utility will actually convert that over to wave so you can put it right on your x360 so you don't have to worry about you know having having sound files or mp3 that that you know it won't accept them or um i think fxp is another one that it doesn't accept i think has to be converted over to 16bit or wave uh either way it's going to convert it it'll automatically convert them over for you you can add them right to the to the unit so it's a it's a pretty pretty nice uh programming utility it um i was actually playing on it a little bit last night moving some sounds around doing some different stuff with categories making subcategories that's another thing you can do you can actually make subcategories inside categories and it's uh it's just a lot that you can do with this unit it's um i think people are really really going to like it yeah and and the great thing about that programmer is they thought ahead for the guys that you know have in the past have bought box pro sounds and the mfk library in the past that they'll be able to to use those sounds they won't have to go repurchase them again they'll be able to convert them right yeah oh yeah yeah just uh as long as you got them on your computer you'll be able to put them right up there on that x360 for sure yep
well let me ask you this what is your favorite feature on the x360 my favorite feature i'd have to say is the customization of the two utility buttons on the top left of the of the tx2000 so the the user buttons the user buttons yep yes yes i'm glad you brought that up yeah it actually if you if you look at the remote if you see pictures of it if you've never never used it never played with it never seen it it actually across the top has user one user two p1 and p2 we took the buttons if everybody's familiar with the tx1000 you know it's got buttons up on the side right off the side of the screen um you know for your p1 p2 p3 p4 those presets right and uh now we've got hot buttons p1 p2 for preset one preset two then you've got user one and user two and you can assign them to whatever you want you can assign them to another preset if you want um myself function yeah or a function yeah so that's what i've done my user one button is actually the advanced 360 so if i want to start throwing sound around randomly going to that that advanced 360 mode that's what my user user one button is same with me yep then my user two i put it on pet uh preset three gotcha is what i've done so and that's a that's a cool feature and that's another thing too that i think is a really nice advancement from the tx2000 or from the tx1000 to tx is getting those preset buttons off the side that's up there they can be a little awkward to to hit uh with this tx2000 they're right there at your thumb i mean it's easy just reach right up there and tap them and go right into to whatever feature or whatever sound that you're wanting that you've got them set for mhm so that is that is i'm glad you brought that up because that's one of my f my favorites as well what's your second favorite what's your second favorite uh i love how the fox fusion is right there on the on the face of the remote as well so you can actually go in and run two sounds at once and while you have both up there you can even adjust the pitch too yes um it's super user friendly and it's right there on the at the push of a button you don't have to go in no submen and click through anything it's just right there so it's it's a lot faster than than the tx1000 yep you can toggle between the two sounds while both sounds are playing that's what fox fusion is where you can actually fuse two different sounds together so you can be playing like a pup distress um with a some kind of prey distress or and this is just for example a pup distress and a raccoon fight or another coyote fight so you know the possibilities are endless two sounds that you can combine but inside that screen now on a tx2000 it's going to show you both sounds that you've got selected on the same screen and it's also going to show you your pitch level and depending on the sound you can either go up in pitch or down in pitch for both sounds and you can go ahead and start going up and down in volume uh with both sounds without ever going out of that home screen right there all that's on the same screen so it's right like you said you don't have to toggle back and forth or in and out it's a pretty pretty big advancement right there right and i want to kind of paint a picture of you know we get a lot of people on online asking why this why that why all these bells and whistles that's more than you need well for me hunting out in the west you know some of this high wind areas that we hunt to be able there and go in and adjust my cottontail sound to a higher pitch it's going to cut that wind a lot more than than it would at at the the normal recording level so right to have that option is is a huge benefit to me especially if i'm hunting in a contest and you you don't get to pick those days the weather's what they what it is on that day so so to be able to have those options at your fingertips it's just giving you an advantage um more than what you know somebody with a different brand might have yeah yep no no it's uh i'm telling you with the you know i don't want this to sound like an infomercial on x360 um but you know we're just kind of just kind of pointing out some of the some of the high points on this thing and i'm telling you it's just one of those units that every time i take it out it impresses me uh i can't get over the sound quality and i think it's just one of those units that you got to get out uh and hear for yourself i mean it's it's really it's a remarkable unit it definitely delivers sound that you've never heard before right right so you coyote hunting this week yeah at some point i mean we get back from these film trips i just got back with al from a southern utah trip and it was okay but there there's always a lot of recoup time after you get back doing anything with al it's always a good time with him no matter what but yeah it it's more of a a work life balance with the wife and you know taking them to do something and but well we are we're going to do some of that too but she uh she wants to hit the paddle boarding so we'll go we'll go paddle boarding on the water but she knows my trigger finger is always itching to go when you got when your buddies got decoy dogs you got to go run them dogs especially when the season the season season's on you got to put coyotes in front of them to keep them keep them trained up so yeah you know the decoy season can be kind of short it's not definitely not 365 days a year that they'll react to the dogs way you want them to so you got to get it when the getting's good that's for sure right so yeah we'll be out for sure we got a few loops we like to run and um some of that high country stuff where the temperatures a little better up there that's probably where we're going to aim the next couple months yeah so does she does uh does your wife or she does she like to day hunting or night hunting better she likes her and i both like the day hunting better um just your you know your field of view and the scope at night just limited but i mean will she go at night i mean does she like it plenty plenty good enough oh yeah yeah she enjoys just being out there yeah yeah so i'm kind of i'm kind of lucky in that aspect we don't have any kids and you know we want to go do something we just go do it you ever uh dog hoged on your wife that's a touchy subject oh now it you know them public land coyotes and you don't get them killed real quick you know it can sour real fast and you know if it's at night and i can't i can't see him i can't see him he's right there you you know you can't talk too loud and and trying to point them on it it's it can be a be a hassle if you're you know i i can see other things souring pretty quick too it's hard to be patient when they're starting to go away you know uhhuh but she does every chance in the world you could have shot it 200 times but you didn't yeah yeah it's all good she she still has a good time but well i don't i don't even have to ask then if you ever dog hog on nick if you're going to dog hog on your wife i know you've been dog hoging on nick you know we are uh definitely a good team and and we know each other very well of when when it's going to go down in the last few trips he's definitely stepped his game up and we've doubletapped several coyotes within milliseconds what do you mean stepped his game up get faster on the trigger i'm pretty fast and you know even when i go with rusty sometimes we get them dogs working and he'll say "why'd you shoot that coyote?" the dogs are working in pretty good and oh man i just i got to get the first one in the truck just to get it you know get the get get the day started so i am known for being fast on the shoot i'll admit it i'll admit it well i'm glad when you're with me you're usually on the camera then
i'll know i'll know what to expect i mean you're both packing rifles i just it'll happen sit back and let you shoot well i'll go back to your last couple podcasts back and i'll i'll let you take your side and i'll take my side oh what was john bear over coyote coyote hunting and coyote stand etiquette yeah that was a that was a good one and that you know what there's a lot of truth to that podcast and i think that's a good one if people had less to it that is a good one yeah you put more coyotes in the truck if you just kind of take a couple extra seconds relax and let somebody call it out hey he's on your side you take him if you're taking turns you know no one's trying to rush to it hey it could it could save some hard feelings too hell it might save a marriage hey maybe you should think about that
if i if i seen y'all been out coyote up and make a make a post i'm going to raise a question up there see what see if you dog hogged on her see what she says yeah well that's funny richie i appreciate you coming on here i ain't gonna eat up uh eat up no more of your time i don't want uncle sam to fire you ah we're all right we're doing good well take care of my business so we appreciate appreciate what you do and appreciate appreciate you coming on here and talking coyote hunting with us heck yeah anytime and i just want to thank all those folks back in pa that you know put that hard work in and getting this x360 out to the public and uh it's been longer like you said longer than you anybody wanted and we wanted to have it tested to perfection and i think we're there and thanks to all those folks and looking forward to testing that x48 too yes sir at x360 is available go find you one go check it out i know you'll be impressed we hope everyone enjoyed this episode and we hope you join us again right here on the fox pro podcast
